Vidalista

Vidalista is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction with its active ingredient, tadalafil. It can also be used to treat pulmonary artery hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

This article will discuss the uses, side effects, and advantages of the medication along with alternative medications, both pharmaceutical and natural.

What Is Vidalista?

Vidalista is a yellow-colored, oval pill often prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), which is a leading cause of sexual function impairment. This prescription-only medication can also be used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia and pulmonary artery hypertension.

Vidalista, with its active ingredient tadalafil, belongs to the class of drugs known as PDE5 inhibitors, commonly used as sex stimulants. Manufactured by Centurion Laboratories, this medication is only helpful in treating erectile dysfunction and no other sexual or ejaculatory disorders in men.

Erectile dysfunction most commonly arises from the lack of proper blood flow to the male penis. This could be due to a wide variety of reasons, including a decrease in the size of the blood vessels.

PDE5 is an enzyme found in the smooth muscle cells of all blood vessels, including the penile arteries. Its main function is to constrict the vessels, decreasing the blood flow but increasing the blood pressure. Inhibiting this enzyme increases blood flow and reduces blood pressure, which helps treat erectile dysfunction by producing an erection.

What’s the Dose of Vidalista?

Vidalista, with its active ingredient tadalafil, is available in one dose only, which is 20 mg. This pill is prescribed either to treat erectile dysfunction, benign prostatic hyperplasia, or pulmonary artery hypertension. The dose for each condition varies greatly.

The initial dose of the drug is usually the lowest dose possible. It is then gradually increased or maintained, depending on the potency and efficacy of the amount in producing the desired effects.

When prescribed for erectile dysfunction, Vidalista 20 mg should only be taken before sexual intercourse and only once every 24 hours. However, if prescribed for benign prostatic hyperplasia, Vidalista must be taken regularly, possibly even twice or thrice a day. Your doctor will prescribe the appropriate dosage for you based on your health.

Changing the dose or compensating for a missed dose with a double dose of the medication is not recommended and can have severe complications.

How Long Does it Take for Vidalista to Kick In?

Vidalista kicks in roughly 20–30 minutes after you take it, and the effects may be visible anytime during the next 3 to 4 hours.

This does not mean that you will have an erection for 3 to 4 hours, but rather you will be able to have an erection during these 3 to 4 hours if you are sexually stimulated. Vidalista 20 mg, like other sexual stimulants, cannot cause an erection spontaneously and needs sexual stimulation and arousal to produce desired effects.

How Long Does Vidalista Last?

Vidalista 20 mg lasts in your body for 36 hours and is entirely out of your system by 96 hours. This is quite a lot compared to drugs like Viagra, as they are only in your system for 4 hours.

How Much Does Vidalista Cost?

Vidalista is an affordable medication, available in packs of 30, 60, and 90 tablets. The prices for these packs are $ 24.30, $ 46.40, and $ 66.50, respectively, making the unit price of the drug range from$ 0.70 to $ 0.80.

The History of Vidalista

Vidalista’s active ingredient, tadalafil, was only studied as a potential treatment for erectile dysfunction disorder by GlaxoSmithKline after a similar compound, sildenafil, was found to have an inhibiting effect on PDE5, resulting in erections.

Sildenafil was studied as a treatment for angina and hypertension by Pfizer. Angina is a type of chest pain resulting from decreased blood and oxygen supply to the muscles. The PDE5 inhibiting mechanism of the compound was hypothesized to be useful in the treatment of these conditions. However, it was found that the drug had no therapeutic benefit. It was considered a failed project until it was found that sildenafil does have therapeutic effects, but for erectile dysfunction.

After this discovery, other compounds with the same mechanism of action as sildenafil were studied. As a result, GlaxoSmithKline discovered tadalafil could be used to treat several erectile dysfunctions.

Who Should Take Vidalista?

Vidalista is a potent sex stimulant prescribed to men with difficulties either initiating or maintaining an erection, despite appropriate sexual stimulation and arousal. This drug is designed for men over the age of 18 years with erectile dysfunction.

Is Vidalista Safe?

Vidalista is a prescription-only, safe drug that the FDA and Indian authorities have approved for its use amongst men over 18 years.

The complications that arise from Vidalista consumption are primarily the result of drug interactions. They can be avoided if you are candid with your doctor about your medical history and any current or past medications you may be on.

Common Side Effects of Vidalista

Vidalista 20 mg can result in some side effects. However, they are mostly resolved spontaneously and usually do not require a visit to the emergency room.

The common side effects of Vidalista are:

  • Anxiety
  • Confusion
  • Frequent, severe headaches
  • Hearing loss
  • Loss of vision
  • Nausea
  • Palpitations
  • Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties
  • Stomach issues
  • Sweating
  • Tinnitus

Potential Drug Interactions With Vidalista

Vidalista can interact with other drugs, and certain drug interactions can be fatal. Therefore, you should inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications or have taken them recently to prevent potentially life-threatening drug interactions.

Antacids

This medication is found in the medicine cabinet of almost all homes. Despite its wide usage, most people do not realize that this drug can interact with prescription medications. When taken with Vidalista 20 mg, antacids can reduce the effects of the sex stimulant drug, resulting in an overall decreased efficiency of Vidalista.

Nitrates

Nitrates have the same effect as Vidalista, however, through different mechanisms of action. They target the blood vessels and induce vasodilation, resulting in decreased pressure and increased blood flow. However, when taken together, these drugs can cause extremely low blood pressure, which can be life-threatening.

Anti-Hypertensives

Antihypertensives have the same effect, resulting in a decrease in blood pressure that can be fatal if not treated immediately.

Guanylate Cyclase Stimulators

This group of medications treats pulmonary artery hypertension, the same as Vidalista 20 mg. However, when combined, these drugs would result in a life-threatening decrease in pulmonary blood pressure, leading to many other complications, if not death.

CYP3A4 Inhibitors

Vidalista can stay in your system for 36 hours. After that, it is metabolized by the enzyme CYP3A4 to help excrete it out of the body. Any medication that inhibits this enzyme also inhibits the clearance of the drug from your body. This can prolong the presence of Vidalista in your system, which can lead to undesired effects of the drug.

CYP3A4 Inducers

Medications that increase the effect of the enzyme CYP3A4 also increase the excretion of Vidalista from the body, as the drug’s metabolism depends on the enzyme. This can result in decreased efficiency of Vidalista, meaning that it cannot provide you with beneficial effects.

Moreover, Vidalista should not be consumed with other erectile dysfunction treatment medications. Combining drugs from the same drug class can intensify the effects and side-effects and result in potentially fatal complications.

Alcohol

It should also not be used with alcohol as it can increase side effects with higher intensity than usual. Therefore, while taking Vidalista, you should refrain from consuming any alcoholic beverage.

Who Should Not Take Vidalista?

Vidalista should only be used by men over 18 suffering from erectile dysfunction. Women, children, and men suffering from other erectile disorders or ejaculatory disorders should not take Vidalista as it has no beneficial effect on their health but can negatively affect them.

You should refrain from taking Vidalista if you have a history of:

  • Allergies to tadalafil or other ingredients in Vidalista
  • Gastric ulcers
  • Hemophilia
  • High cholesterol levels
  • Hypertension
  • Kidney disease
  • Leukemia
  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Prolonged erection or priapism
  • Recent cardiac events (cardiac arrest, heart attack) in the previous 3 to 6 months
  • Recent surgery (last three months)
  • Retinitis pigmentosa
  • Visual disturbances

How Does Vidalista Work?

Vidalista is a sex stimulant drug that works on the blood vessels in the penis by increasing blood flow and producing an erection. This action of tadalafil, the active ingredient of Vidalista, is made possible due to its inhibitory action on the enzyme PDE5. This enzyme constricts blood vessels. Hence, its inhibition dilates the vessels allowing more blood to flow through them, resulting in an erection.

Medical Research Into Vidalista

Vidalista hasn’t been extensively studied, but its active ingredient, tadalafil, has been studied in several clinical trials. Vidalista uses the same formulation as tadalafil. Once the patent of tadalafil by the parent company expired, it opened the road for other companies to produce the same drug at a much lower cost, similar to Vidalista.

Medical Alternatives to Vidalista

Vidalista can be substituted with other medications containing tadalafil or other tadalafil-like compounds. However, you should not change your medications without approval from your doctor.

  • Alprostadil Injections
  • Avanafil (Avaforce, Stendra, Avana)
  • Mirodenafil (Mvix)
  • Sildenafil (Viagra, Fildena, P-Force, Vygex)
  • Tadalafil (Cialis, Tadagra, Tadovas, Tadact,Tadacip, Tadalip)
  • Udenafil (Zydena)
  • Vardenafil (Levitra, Vilitra, Savitra)

Natural Alternatives to Vidalista

There are quite a few supplements and natural herbal treatments that claim to have the same positive effects as Vidalista. Natural alternatives have been used in traditional medicine for years. However, their use is not supported by scientific evidence.

The natural alternatives to Vidalista are:

Yohimbe

Yohimbe root has been used for hundreds of years as an aphrodisiac with the ability to put you in the mood for sexual intercourse and cause an erection when sexually stimulated [1].

Horny Goat Weed

Horny goat weed is also used in certain supplements designed for men with erectile disorders. The primary extract of this herbal substitute, icariin, has the same effect on the PDE5 enzyme as Vidalista, hence resulting in an erection [2].

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba is a widely used ingredient in supplements due to its ability to increase blood flow to different body parts, most notably the brain and the penis [3]. It improves cognitive function and helps manage ED simultaneously.

Where to Buy Vidalista

Vidalista is a prescription-only medication that is readily available in pharmacies as well as online. Many choose to buy Vidalista from online pharmacies as it is simpler and more discreet.

Sometimes natural supplements work well, and a prescription is not needed, so it’s beneficial to try them first. However, talk to your doctor before making any adjustments or adding any medication, natural or not.
