This release of NO causes cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)’s release and blood vessels to dilate, causing more blood to flow into the penis. This leads to enlargement of the penis, causing it to be erect. The tunica albuginea in the penis keeps the penis erect by trapping blood in the penis and keeps it so until the sexual encounter is finished.

Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), found in the corpora cavernosum, vascular smooth muscles, visceral smooth muscles, and platelets, inhibits the blood vessels from dilating. In most ED patients, the blood vessels themselves are affected too.

Zhewitra Soft stops the action of this enzyme in the penis, allowing blood flow to occur and it to become erect.
