Nitrates

Anti-Hypertensives

The use of alpha-blockers with Zeagra should be done cautiously, as it can cause a slight drop in blood pressure [4, 5]. Patients should be stable on alpha-blockers prior to initiating Zeagra. Treatment with Zeagra must be initiated at the lowest recommended dose and should be taken 3 to 4 hours apart from antihypertensive medications.

Guanylate Cyclase Stimulators

Taking GC stimulators and Zeagra together is contraindicated because this combination potentiates the former’s hypotensive effects, which can be life-threatening.

CYP3A4 Inducers

These medications induce a faster metabolism of Zeagra by increasing the activity of the enzyme CYP3A4. This can decrease the duration and the effects of Zeagra.

CYP3A4 Inhibitors

Zeagra undergoes extensive biotransformation in human liver enzymes, mainly via the enzyme CYP3A4. Taking CYP3A4 inhibitors with Zeagra leads to an increase in the half-life of the latter by decreasing its metabolism.

Alcohol

A study showed that over 45% of men who took sildenafil with alcohol for recreational purposes had a higher risk of side effects, including facial flushing, headaches, chest pain, changes in vision, and lightheadedness [6].

Who Should Avoid Using Zeagra?

How Does Zeagra Work?

Zeagra contains sildenafil as an active compound.

Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor drug. It inhibits the enzyme PDE5, which is responsible for cGMP degradation in the corpus cavernosum of the penis.

The Nitric Oxide/cGMP pathway mechanism is responsible for penile erection. The endothelium of the penile arteries produces nitric oxide (NO) in response to sexual stimulation.

NO then travels to the smooth muscles and binds to guanylate cyclase receptors. This leads to the activation of guanylate cyclase (GC). The GC then produces cGMP from GTP.

cGMP is present in high levels after taking sildenafil. The cGMP formed activates cGMP-dependent protein kinase, which, in turn, leads to smooth muscle relaxation and increases blood flow to the penile blood vessels, resulting in an erection. This erection is maintained until sexual stimulation is over.

As Zeagra cannot work without sexual stimulation, take the drug 15 to 30 minutes before sexual intercourse.
