P-Force Plus

P-force plus is a brand name for sildenafil citrate, a drug used for treating erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.

In this article, we will talk about everything you need to know about P-Force Plus. We’ll describe all the information about its uses, what to expect from it, and how it can help you.

Let’s get on with it.

What is P-force Plus?

P-force Plus is the brand name of the medication sildenafil citrate, which is commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). The same active ingredient is present in another popular ED medication, Viagra. P-Force Plus is produced by Sunrise Remedies, a large pharmaceutical company based in Gujarat, India.

You can find P-Force Plus as a small blue-colored diamond-shaped tablet; there are usually ten tablets in each pack.

P-Force Plus is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, an enzyme found in the penis. It causes an erection by relaxing the smooth muscles in the penis. By doing this, there will be an increase in the blood flow in the arteries of the penis called corpora cavernosum. With this increase in blood flow, an erection can last much longer.

What is the Dose of P-Force Plus?

P-Force Plus comes in a single dose of 130 mg tablets.

It is a medicine prescribed mainly for erectile dysfunction and can also treat benign prostate hyperplasia.

For ED, you should take P-Force Plus only when needed. There is no need for daily consumption as its main use is to help maintain an erection long enough for sexual intercourse when required.

In most patients, this 130 mg dose is enough to provide the desired results.

The maximum dose of P-Force Plus is one pill per day.

How Long Does it Take for P-Force Plus to Kick In?

It takes about 30 to 60 minutes for P-Force Plus to get into action. Sometimes it can take a bit longer — almost two hours in some cases. If you’ve never used it before, remain a bit patient and wait for the drug to work.

However, this medication requires you to be sexually stimulated — only then can P-Force Plus show its effects. This medication works just to eliminate the physical hurdle stopping you from getting an erection and does not act as a sexual stimulant. It will not cause an erection on its own.

How Long Does P-Force Plus Last?

Once P-Force Plus starts working, the effects last for almost 3 hours. Its half-life is about 3 to 5 hours.

In some men, its effects can last for more than that, for almost up to 24 hours.

How Much Does P-Force Plus Cost?

P-Force Plus costs $1.40 to $2 per tablet. It is not as expensive as other drugs, like Viagra.

The History of P-Force Plus

The active ingredient of P-Force Plus, namely sildenafil citrate, was originally developed as a potential heart medicine back in 1989. It was developed with the belief that it could treat high blood pressure and angina. The groundbreaking discovery of it being able to induce erections in ED patients was accidental, but it changed the course of treatment for this condition.

The formula for sildenafil was patented in 1996 and approved for use by the FDA in 1998. From then on, it was produced and sold by Pfizer.

In 2019, the patent expired, meaning other companies could start producing the drug using the same formula, but at a lower cost. Sunrise Remedies started producing P-Force Plus following the lifting of this patent.

Who Should Take P-Force Plus?

P-Force Plus was approved for use by the FDA in 1998. It is a prescription-only medicine for ED in most countries. Your doctor may prescribe P-Force Plus if you have any problem maintaining an erection long enough for sexual intercourse.

Your doctor will first assess if you have any underlying health conditions or if you’re under any medications that could lead to interactions with P-Force Plus and cause side effects.

Is P-Force Plus Safe?

P-Force Plus is generally safe to take, but like most other medications, it also has some side effects, some of which could be severe.

Side effects of P-Force Plus are mainly attributed to taking doses higher than what’s recommended.

P-Force Plus is not recommended for men who have known heart-related problems or sensitivity to the drug.

Common Side Effects of P-Force Plus

  • Abnormal vision
  • Back pain
  • Dizziness
  • Flushing
  • Headaches
  • Indigestion
  • Muscle pain
  • Nasal congestion
  • Nausea
  • Rash
  • Vision Loss

Potential Drug Interactions With P-Force Plus

Some drugs interact with P-Force Plus and can cause some problematic side effects.

It is important to tell your doctor beforehand if you are taking any one of these drugs, as their reaction with P-Force Plus can either just be mildly irritating or turn out to be dangerous. Most of these interact with other PDE5 inhibitors as well.

Some of the medications that may interact with P-Force Plus include:

Nitrates

Nitrates are normally prescribed in angina and coronary artery disease. P-Force Plus may interact with nitrates and relax the blood vessels, thus decreasing blood pressure and lead to severe hypotension. Nitrates include medications like nitroglycerin, isosorbide, amyl nitrate, and others.

Antihypertensive Medications

P-Force Plus can react with antihypertensive medications like alpha-blockers, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, and angiotensin II receptor blockers. Taking them together can cause a rapid drop in blood pressure.

Guanylate Cyclase (GC) Stimulators

P-Force Plus can react with Guanylate Cyclase stimulators and cause a rapid drop in blood pressure. These include drugs like riociguat, commonly used to treat pulmonary hypertension.

Alcohol

Using P-Force Plus with any form of alcohol can cause excess symptoms of headaches, dizziness, low blood pressure, and an increase in the heart rate. This includes drinks like wine, beer, whisky, and others.

Antacids

Antacids can reduce the rate at which P-Force Plus is taken up by the body and decrease its performance. Antacids include Alternagel, Amphojel, Alka-Seltzer, Tums, Magnesium hydroxide, Gaviscon, Gelusil, Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids, and others.

CYP3A4 Inhibitors

P-Force Plus’ metabolization occurs in the liver due to an enzyme called CYP3A4. Drugs like ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, etc., are CYP3A4 inhibitors. These can delay P-Force Plus’s removal from the body. The medication then stays in the bloodstream longer and can be dangerous.

CYP3A4 Inducers

Contrary to that of the CYP3A4 inhibitors, the inducers of CYP3A3 can prolong the activity of the said enzyme. Thus, they can cause the effects of P-Force Plus to last for a shorter time with much less pronounced effects. CYP3A4 inducers include Rifampin, Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, and Phenobarbital.

Who Should Avoid Using P-Force Plus?

The following individuals should not use P-Force Plus:

  • Anyone with certain blood disorders (hemophilia, leukemia, sickle-cell anemia)
  • Anyone with severe kidney disease
  • Patients diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa
  • Patients taking any of the contraindicated medications listed in the previous section
  • Patients with a history of NAION or ‘crowded’ optic disc
  • Patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to P-Force Plus
  • Patients with a history of priapism
  • Patients with severe heart disease or heart valve failure
  • Patients with stomach ulcers

How Does P-Force Plus Work?

The generic drug in P-Force Plus, called sildenafil citrate, is a PDE5 inhibitor. The human body contains many kinds of PDE enzymes. The PDE5 exists in corpora cavernosum, platelets, skeletal muscles, vascular and visceral muscles, and is predominantly active in the penis.

During sexual excitement, nerve stimulations occur in the pelvic region. Following this, there is a release of nitric oxide (NO) in and around the penile arteries and cavernous smooth muscles. Nitric Oxide causes an increase in cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This leads to the relaxation of the penile smooth muscles and increases the blood flow to the penis. As a result, an erection occurs.

These blood vessels are affected and are unable to work properly in most cases of ED. PDE5 inhibits the action of cGMP, causing a lack of relaxation of the penile muscles. This leads to poor blood flow into the penile structures, and thus, an erection does not occur.

P-Force Plus counteracts this by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme and relaxing the blood vessels until it is filled with enough blood to cause an erection. It also maintains an erection long enough for you to have sexual intercourse.

However, there is an inherent need for the person to be sexually stimulated for this medicine to work. Without proper stimulation, P-Force Plus will be unable to do its work properly.

Medical Research Involving P-Force Plus

Sildenafil, the generic form of P-Force Plus, is well-researched and shows how effective the medication is [1]. There is little research on P-Force Plus specifically because most of the generic medications copy the already long-established formulations. Once the patents expire, it’s easier for the drugs to be manufactured by many companies at once.

Best P-Force Plus Alternatives

Many other medications can treat ED. Some of these use the same active ingredient as P-Force Plus. Others may have varying components but have a similar mechanism of action.

Pharmaceutical Alternatives

Following the uplifting of the patent over Sildenafil, many other companies started producing many forms of this same drug using the same formula to treat ED. Some of them may be cheaper, some more expensive. However, in the end, they all contain the same compound and dose.

The drugs of other brands that work the same as P-Force Plus are:

  • Avanafil (Avaforce, Stendra, Avana)
  • Mirodenafil (Mvix)
  • Sildenafil (Viagra, Cenforce, Kamagra, Fildena, P-Force, Vygex, & more)
  • Tadalafil (Cialis, Adcirca, Vidalista, Tadacip, Forzest, & more)
  • Udenafil (Zydena)
  • Vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn, Vilitra, Zhewitra, Savitra, & more)

Natural Alternatives

There are some herbs and nutrients that are known to treat ED. These have been used in traditional medicine and have old beliefs of being useful to treat ED. However, these lack sufficient evidence and scientific research.

If you are hesitant to try medical formulations directly, these herbs could be a good alternative. If the herbal formulations do not work for you, you can step up to the prescription meds.

Here are some of the alternative herbs and supplements that can help treat ED:

  • Horny goat weed (Epimedium spp.) — This herb contains a substance called Icariin. It may have a similar ability to inhibit PDE5 as P-Force Plus [2].
  • Ginseng (Panax ginseng) — Ginseng is an herb commonly used in Asia. It is said to raise body heat, work as a sexual stimulant and even work in ED [3].
  • Muira puama (Ptychopetalum olacoides) — This herb grows in the Amazon rainforests and is used in traditional medicine to treat impotence, lack of sexual desires, and ED [4].
  • L-Arginine — This drug can help in increasing the amount of cGMP by making nitric oxide. Thus it may help to cause erections and effectively treat ED [5].
  • Catuaba (Trichilia catigua or Erythroxylum catuaba) — This herb’s origin is from Asia, where it is believed to cure ED and impotence [6].
  • Yohimbe (Pausinystalia johimbe) — Yohimbe is capable of treating ED and working as an aphrodisiac [7].
  • Tribulus (Tribulus terrestris) — Tribulus may be able to increase sexual potency [8].

Where to Buy P-Force Plus

In most countries, you need to get a prescription from a doctor to buy P-Force Plus. If you want to try it out, visit your doctor about it. They will examine you and see if you have any health conditions or check current medications to see if P-Force Plus suits you.

Once you have a prescription, you can purchase P-Force Plus online or from nearby pharmacies. Buying it online is better as it is more discreet and rids you of the trouble of buying it from pharmacies.

You’ll be able to find other generic drugs with the same formula as P-Force Plus that may be cheaper. Take a look around and see what’s best for you, or consider trying an alternative, natural treatment first.

P-Force Plus, with its ability to inhibit PDE5 and cause an erection, could be the best medication for erectile dysfunction.
