Testosterone levels peak around age 19, and start to decline around the mid 30s or 40s. As testosterone levels drop, it becomes harder to keep excess weight off — especially around the middle.
Andro400 is a natural health supplement designed to support male reproductive health by boosting testosterone levels in men of all ages.
Learn why Andro400 may not be as effective as advertised, what it can be used for, and how to get the most out of using this natural testosterone booster.
What is Andro400?
Andro400 is a herbal supplement for supporting optimal testosterone levels in men. The main ingredient in the formula is a herb known as Eurycoma longifolia — often referred to as Tongkat Ali, Longjack, or Malaysian Ginseng (more on how it works below).
The original formula (Andro400) contains pure concentrated Eurycoma longifolia extract, but there are two other formulas available that provide additional ingredients to support testosterone production, promote fat loss, and more.
The basis of the Andro400 supplements is to break the cycle of abdominal fat and low testosterone.
When testosterone levels start to diminish, visceral fat (fat around the middle) starts to rise. As this fat increases, it has positive feedback on testosterone, causing even further testosterone depletion. This leads to the deposition of even more fat and the cycle continues.
Andro400 Comes in 3 Formulas:
- Andro400 — Basic formula for testosterone support
- Andro400 Max — Extended formula with nutrients to support erectile function
- Andro400 Max T — Extended formula with weightloss supportive ingredients
1. Andro400 (Original Formula)
Best for: General male reproductive health.
This is the original Andro400 supplement intended to offer natural testosterone support in both men and women. It’s made from a concentrated extract of Eurycoma longifolia.
The extract used to make this product is concentrated at a ratio of 100 to 1 — which mens that 1 gram of the concentrate is equivalent to 100 grams of the raw herb.
This is a simple and effective supplement for supporting male reproductive health as and testosterone levels in both men and women. It contains pure eyrycoma without any harmful additives, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg like many other testosterone supplements on the market.
The recommended dose is 2 capsules per day for men, and 1 capsule per day for women.
You can pick up a bottle of Andro400 For $34.95 each, with discounts available for bulk orders of 3 bottles or more.
2. Andro400 Max
Best for: Low libido and mild erectile dysfunction.
This supplement is designed to support testosterone leves, improve libido, and offer support for erectile dysfunction.
The Andro400 Max formula builds off the original Andro400 formula by adding two amino acids to the mix — L-arginine and L-citrulline. These amino acids are common ingredients in natural erectile dysfunction supplements because of their role in nitric oxide production.
Nitric oxide is a vasodilator used to widen the blood vessels feeding the penis. When these blood vessels dilate, blood flows into the corpora cavernosa to cause an erection.
The recommended dose is 2 capsules per day for men and 1 capsule per day for women.
This supplement costs $39.95 for 60 capsules (1 – 2 month supply). Bulk order options are available as well.
3. Andro400 Max T
Best for: Low testosterone levels in combination with higher fat content.
The Andro400 Max T is designed to provide the same testosterone-enhancement effects as the other members of this lineup, but uses a stronger eurycoma extract and includes other ingredients aimed at reducing belly fat.
This formula contains a 200 to 1 eurycoma extract, Garcinia cambogia (weight loss supportive), D-aspartic acid (promotes testosterone production), acetyl-L-carnitine (supports male reproductive and brain health), and ForsLean® (weight loss supportive).
This formula is best used by men experiencing low libido, low testosterone levels, and increased belly fat. Ingredients like Garcinia cambogia and ForsLean® help to increase metabolism and reduce hunger cravings — contributing to a healthy weight loss regimen.
Does Andro400 Work?
The company makes some obnoxious claims about its product — such as “accelerating sex drive up to 73%”, “melting body fat”, or “increasing libido up to 90%”. The so-called “science” the official website described to explain how the supplement works is also often incorrect.
A lot of the references listed for figures on the website either have nothing to do with the claims being made, or are leading to untrustworthy sources of information — such as blogs or outdated medical articles.
While we’re skeptical about the figures used on the website, there’s evidence to back up at least some of the libido-enhancing and weight loss supportive effects of the active ingredients in Andro400.
The bottom line is that Andro400 is likely to offer improvement in testosterone levels and libido in men experiencing specific problems, but is unlikely to offer support for healthy men.
This supplement is best used as a supportive agent for an otherwise healthy lifestyle and should not be relied upon on its own.
1. Andro400 For Increasing Testosterone Levels
Verdict: May improve testosterone levels in men with low testosterone (unlikely to be effective in healthy men).
There’s been some impressive research over the years on the use of eurycoma for boosting testosterone levels in older men.
One study involving 75 men with low testosterone levels found that a dose of 200 mg of eurycoma for one month significantly improved the testosterone scores in 91% of the participants [2].
Other ingredients in Andro400 Max and UltraMax T have also been shown to increase testosterone levels.
For example, D-aspartic acid (in UltraMax T) has been shown to increase luteinizing hormone (LH) in the pituitary gland in both animal studies and human clinical trials. LH is the primary regulator for testosterone in humans.
One study, in particular, gave men a 12-day regimen of D-aspartic acid [3]. The study found the supplement increased the testosterone levels in 87% of participants. The average increase was 42%.
2. Andro400 For Improving Libido
Verdict: May produce a mild improvement in libido.
The manufacturer of Andro400 claims the supplement can increase libido by 90%. On the website this statistic references a pilot study involving eurycoma on physically active seniors. Nowhere in this article is there any suggestion that eurycoma increases libido by 90%.
While the makers of Andro400 have done a terrible job at providing proof for their claims, there has been some promising results from studies on libido using eurycoma.
One study gave 109 men between the ages fo 30 and 55 either 300 mg of eurycoma extract, or an inactive placebo. After 12 weeks, the treatment group had significantly higher self-reported sexual wellbeing scores compared to the placebo, and a higher sperm count [4].
There has also been some studies on this effect in animals that have shown improvement, but nothing substantial has yet come out of this research.
3. Andro400 For Reducing Fat
Verdict: Unlikely to offer the level of weight loss benefit as advertised, but may be helpful in a targeted weight loss regimen.
The makers of Andro400 claim the supplement helps reduce the accumulation of belly fat through its ability to boost testosterone levels.
However, as we’ll cover in the next section, increasing testosterone is only going to have a mild impact on weight loss — but weight loss can have a dramatic impact on increasing testosterone levels.
Additional ingredients in the Adreno400 UltraMax T supplement offer weight loss benefits:
A) Garcinia cambogia
Studies have shown that Garcinia cambogia and its active ingredient, hydroxycitric acid (HCA), is able to reduce appetite [7], reduce fat levels in the bloodstream [8], and help regulate blood sugar levels [9]. All of this sounds great in practice, but systematic reviews have shown that this supplement only resulted in a mildly lower weight than placebo controls (2 pounds higher on average compared to placebo control) [10].
B) ForsLean®
The other weight loss component — ForsLean® is a standardized extract of the herb Coleus forskohlii).
It works by increasing the activity of cyclic AMP (cAMP), which is an important regulator of both metabolism and hormone production.
This compound has been studied for its effects on weight loss numerous times. One double-blind, randomized clinical trial gave 30 men a dose of either 250 mg coleus extract, or a placebo control. The study found a significant improvement in fat loss scores with men in the treatment group.
Size Effects of Andro400
This supplement is unlikely to result in any major side effects and is generally regarded as safe. The most common side effect is insomnia, especially when using the Andro400 UltraMax T due to the presence of stimulating ingredients like ForsLean.
The main ingredient, eurycoma, has been proven safe several times in clinical testing, and is unlikely to result in any lasting side effects. However, like any health supplement, there’s always the potential for a negative reaction when using the herb.
The potential side effects of eurycoma include:
- Insomnia
- Nausea/vomiting
- Headaches
- Rashes or facial redness
- Increased heart rate
- Bloating or indigestion
- Diarrhea
Always speak with your doctor before taking a new supplement if you’re on any prescription medications, or have serious underlying medical conditions.
Making the Connection Between Testosterone & Weight Loss
There’s a lot of debate as to which problem comes first — low testosterone or obesity.
There’s evidence supports both — low testosterone and excess weight gain work in a positive feedback loop — each making the other worse over time.
Therefore, the most influential and effective means of both increasing testosterone and reducing abdominal weight is through diet and exercise.
Obesity Leads to Low Testosterone
Studies have shown that obese men on average, have 30% lower testosterone levels than men at a healthy weight [5]. Men who are considered morbidly obese (BMI of 40 or higher) have the highest rates of hypogonadism (clinical testosterone deficiency) [6].
Fat tissue around the abdomen has a high concentration of an enzyme called aromatase — which is responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen.
As more testosterone is converted to estrogen due to the higher fat content (and therefore aromatase), testosterone levels start to decline. Adding to the problem, higher estrogen levels in the blood result in a reduction in luteinizing hormone (LH) which the body uses to stimulate the secretion of testosterone.
Both of these effects lead to a gradual loss of testosterone levels over time.
Low Testosterone Leads to Obesity
Testosterone helps regulate both fat and muscle mass in the body — especially males. Muscle tissue burns much more energy than fat, so men with low testosterone levels and resulting muscle loss may experience a lower basal metabolic rate. This means men with lower testosterone need to consume less calories.
If the caloric intake is higher than the amount of energy burned, fat stores will increase.
The idea that low testosterone can lead to weight gain is backed up by studies using testosterone replacement therapy as a treatment for weight loss.
Studies have shown that testosterone replacement therapy is able to promote fat loss in men with low-testosterone levels [11]. This effect was noted to be absent from men with normal testosterone levels.
How Fat Loss Works
Our fat cells (called adipocytes) act as a storage vessel for energy in the form of fat.
They’re designed to hold the fat for long periods of time until we need it for energy. The adipocytes have the ability to expand nearly 1000 times their original size to store fats [1].
When the amount of energy going into the body remains higher than the amount of energy the body is burning, the remainder is converted into fat and stored in the adipocytes.
To simplify, imagine you take 2000 calories into the body in the form of food, but only burn 1000 during the day. The extra 1000 calories will be stored as fat (which works out to around 130 grams of fat).
When they reach their maximum capacity, they release hormones that cause surrounding cells to convert into more adipocytes. As the body gains more adipocytes, it needs to create new networks of blood vessels and lymph tissue to maintain them.
The concept behind most fat-burning supplements, including Andro400, is to increase the amount of energy the body burns in order to create a net loss of energy, instead of a net gain.
Using our example from before, if you consume 2000 calories of food, and manage to burn 2500, you have a net loss of 500 calories which will be taken from the fat stores in the adipocytes.
Andro400 Alternatives
Andro400 isn’t the only natural male enhancement on the market — far from it. There are hundreds of different supplements being suggested to boost testosterone levels, improve fertility, increase libido, and promote muscle gain and fat loss.
The best alternatives to Andro400 specifically are supplements that ocntain eurycoma — which is the primary active ingredient in all three of these formulas. There are also plenty of other testosterone-supportive herbs, such as fenugreek, maca, or pine pollen to consider.
Here are a few alternative options to Andro400:
- Nugenix Total T — Top-Recommendation
- Extenze
- Ageless Male
Where to Buy Andro400
Andro400 can only be ordered from andro400.com. Some pharmacies and big box stores like Walmart sell products that go by the same name, but none of them are the brand in question.
The maker of Andro400 — Natural Health Concepts provides very little information about who stocks this supplement, and they are no longer listed as an Amazon seller.
If you’re interested in trying Andro400, make sure to order from the official website — andro400.com only.
