CYP3A4 Inhibitors

The metabolization of Fildena Super Active occurs in the liver due to an enzyme called CYP3A4. Drugs like ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, etc. are the ones that inhibit CYP3A4.

These drugs can interact with Fildena Super Active, causing a delay in removing the latter from the body. The medication then stays in the bloodstream for a longer duration and can cause more side effects.

CYP3A4 inducers include rifampin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital.

  • NAION or ‘crowded’ optic disc
  • Retinitis pigmentosa

How Does Fildena Super Active Work?

The main ingredient of Fildena Super Active is sildenafil citrate. It is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor.

The human body contains many kinds of PDE enzymes. The PDE5 exists in corpora cavernosum, platelets, skeletal muscles, and vascular, and visceral muscles. It is most predominantly active in the penis.

When a man is sexually excited, nerve stimulations occur in the pelvic region. Following this, nitric oxide (NO) release occurs in and around the penile arteries and cavernous smooth muscles.

Nitric oxide causes an increase in cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This leads to relaxation of the penile smooth muscles and corpus cavernosum and increases the blood flow to the penis. As a result, an erection occurs.

These blood vessels are affected and cannot work properly in most cases of ED.

Furthermore, in a person having ED, PDE5 inhibits the action of cGMP, causing poor relaxation of the penile muscles. This leads to deficient blood flow into the penile structures making it difficult to get an erection.

Hence, Fildena Super Active inhibits the PDE5 enzyme and helps in causing and maintaining an erection long enough to have sexual intercourse.

However, sexual stimulation is essential for this medicine to work. Without proper stimulation, Fildena Super Active will not be able to do its job.
