Malegra DXT

Malegra DXT is a combination of two drugs, sildenafil, and duloxetine. It is used in the treatment of two conditions, erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE) which can often occur together.

Before using this medicine, there are a few things you should be aware of. It includes what it is, how it functions, and how you can benefit from it. In this article, we’ll look through these specifics.

What is Malegra DXT?

Malegra DXT is a medication containing two drugs, sildenafil, and duloxetine. It contains 100 mg of sildenafil and 30 mg of duloxetine. It is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE)

Erectile dysfunction is a condition where men are incapable of getting an erection. Ejaculation that happens during intercourse shortly before or immediately after penetration is known as premature ejaculation. The inability to sustain an erection for an extended period might result in a quicker or premature ejaculation in some situations, which can lead to PM.

By extending the duration of the erection and preventing early ejaculation, Malegra DXT can cure these disorders. Sildenafil, a phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, which improves blood flow to the penis, and duloxetine, an SNRI, which postpones ejaculation, work together to achieve these effects.

Malegra DXT is manufactured by Sunrise Remedies, a large pharmaceutical company based in India.

What’s The Dose of Malegra DXT

Malegra DXT is available in a dosage of 130 mg containing 100mg of sildenafil and 30mg of duloxetine. It comes in a package of 10 yellow-coloured pills per pack.

Take Malegra DXT about an hour before engaging in sexual activity. One pill per day is the maximum dosage. Only use this medication when necessary.  In most countries, itt is only available by prescription. It is not necessary to consume it every day.

How Long Does it Take Malegra DXT To Kick In?

Malegra DXT takes around an hour to start working. Depending on the user, the onset and performance levels may change.

How Long Does Malegra DXT Last?

It takes 3 to 4 hours for Malegra DXT to wear off. There is sufficient time for sexual activity.

How Much Does Malegra DXT Cost?

Malegra DXT costs 0.58 USD per tablet. This price is less compared to other ED and PM drugs.

The History of Malegra DXT

Each Malegra DXT medication has its very own history of creation and development.

In 1993, sildenafil was developed as a potential heart medication. It wasn’t until much later that it was realised that it might also cause erections in ED patients. This finding was put to use by the company ICOS to improve ED therapy. After then, in 1994, sildenafil was patentable. In 2003, the FDA approved sildenafil as a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED). It was then exclusively produced and sold by Lilly ICOS. After sildenafil’s patent expired in 2017, more businesses were able to start making it at a substantially lower cost.

The second drug of Malegra DXT, duloxetine, was developed by researchers at Eli Lilly and Company. Its patent application was submitted in 1986 and approved in 1990.  In 2004, duloxetine received approval to be used in the treatment of major depression. For the treatment of chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, fibromyalgia in the presence of mood disorders, and the management of diabetic neuropathy, duloxetine is suggested as a first-line medication. On January 1, 2014, its patent protection came to an end.

These two drugs can be combined to treat ED and premature ejaculation much more effectively. Because of this, Sunrise Pharmaceuticals began making this combo medicine as a remedy for these two ailments.

Who Should Take Malegra DXT?

Malegra DXT is prescribed to men who have premature ejaculation or who are unable to sustain an erection long enough for sex. To confirm your diagnosis, you must first visit your doctor for a medical assessment. They might recommend this drug once they have determined your diagnosis.

Is Malegra DXT Safe?

Most guys can safely consume Malegra DXT. However, It must be used carefully or not at all in cases of cardiac disease.

Common Side Effects of Malegra DXT

Malegra DXT too has certain side effects, much like most other medications. This is because it affects the body as a whole and not just one specific system. The majority of these side effects are brought on by incorrect or excessive doses. If you encounter any unusual side effects, call your physician right away.

Some of the most common side effects of using Malegra DXTare:

  • Backache
  • Blurry vision
  • Chest pain
  • Cough
  • Diarrhoea
  • Dry mouth
  • Excessive sweating
  • Flushing
  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Less appetite
  • Light-headedness
  • Muscle aches
  • Nausea
  • Pain in extremities
  • Priapism
  • Stomach Upset
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • Sweating
  • Upper Respiratory Tract Infections
  • Weight loss

Potential Drug Interactions With Malegra DXT

Malegra DXT and some drugs may interact, leading to unfavourable side effects. They may interact in ways that are mild or possibly harmful. Therefore, it is wise to let your doctor know in advance if you take any of these drugs.

The following medicines may interact with Malegra DXT:

Nitrates

Drugs like amyl nitrate, nitroglycerin, isosorbide, nitroprusside, etc. are examples of nitrates. These medications are essential treatments for heart disorders. Lowering blood pressure is one of these medications’ key characteristics. These medications and Malegra DXT may interact, causing a significant drop in blood pressure.

Guanylate Cyclase (GC) Stimulators

Malegra DXT can lower blood pressure, the same as the drugs under this category. Combining them would mean lowering the blood pressure to dangerous levels. Hence it is best to avoid Malegra DXT if you are taking drugs under this category. The medication riociguat, which is widely prescribed to treat pulmonary hypertension, is one of the guanylate cyclase inhibitors.

Anti-Hypertensive Medications

Alpha-blockers, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, and angiotensin II receptor blockers are a few of the medications under this category. They can interact with Malegra DXT and enhance its blood pressure-lowering effects.

CYP3A4 inhibitors

Malegra DXT is metabolised by the CYP3A4 enzymes. Therefore, Malegra DXT’s metabolism can be slowed down and its effects on the body can be prolonged by drugs that block this enzyme. Ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, and other medications fall within this category.

Alcohol

All forms of alcohol have the potential to be made worse by Malegra DXT. It may result in negative side effects such as headaches, nausea, vomiting, etc. As a result, it is advised against being taken with alcohol.

Antacids

Drugs like Alternagel, Amphojel, Alka-Seltzer, Tums, Magnesium hydroxide, Gaviscon, Gelusil, Maalox, Mylanta, and Rolaids are among them. These may slow the body’s absorption of Malegra DXT.

CYP3A4 Inducers

These drugs function in opposition to CYP3A4 inhibitors. When combined, the medications in this category can accelerate the metabolism of Malegra DXT by increasing the activity of the CYP3A4 enzyme. Drugs including rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital are CYP3A4 inducers.

MAOI inhibitors

Malegra DXT’s duloxetine may interact with MAOI inhibitors. Side effects of this interaction include hyperthermia, myoclonus, altered mental status, stiffness, and autonomic instability, among others. These drugs include selegiline, phenelzine, and isocarboxazid, among others.

Thioridazine

Thioridazine, a mood stabiliser, can lengthen QTc intervals, which can result in ventricular arrhythmias. Malegra DXT contains duloxetine, which can inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes and stop the metabolism of thioridazine. It might result in elevated blood levels of thioridazine and arrhythmias.

Who Should Avoid Using Malegra DXT

  • Patients diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa
  • Patients taking any of the contraindicated medications listed in the previous section
  • Patients with a history of mania or severe depression
  • Patients with a history of NAION or “crowded” optic disc
  • Patients with a history of priapism
  • Patients with a history of syncope
  • Patients with certain blood disorders (haemophilia, leukaemia, sickle-cell anaemia)
  • Patients with hypersensitivity to Malegra DXT
  • Patients with kidney failure or severe kidney disease
  • Patients with low blood pressure
  • Patients with moderate or severe hepatic impairment
  • Patients with orthostatic hypotension
  • Patients with severe heart disease such as heart valve failure
  • Patients with severe kidney disease

How Does Malegra DXT Work

Malegra DXT’s two components function in two distinct ways.

Phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) is inhibited by sildenafil. PDE5 can be found throughout the body. The corpora cavernosa, platelets, skeletal muscles, vascular, and visceral muscles are where it is largely concentrated.

The nerve in the pelvic area is stimulated during intercourse due to sexual excitation. Nitric oxide is released as a result of this process (NO). Cyclic guanosine phosphate levels rise as a result of NO (cGMP). The corpora cavernosa and penile smooth muscles relax when the levels of cGMP grow. Additionally, it improves blood flow to the penis. An erection results from all of this. PDE5 suppresses the effects of cGMP in ED. It causes the penis to malfunction and to lack an erection. A patient with ED may have a blood vessel problem in the penile area.

Malegra DXT contains sildenafil, which inhibits PDE5. As a result, it makes room for a proper erection to happen. Sildenafil differs from the other PDE5 inhibitors largely due to its prolonged working period.

Duloxetine, the second drug of Malegra DXT, is a selective serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It stops the neuronal reuptake of serotonin which could help delay ejaculation.

The serotonin (5-HT) in the brain can help in slowing down ejaculation. Premature ejaculation can be caused by a drop in the levels of serotonin. Duloxetine can increase the level of serotonin in the brain. Hence, it can improve control over ejaculation [1]. And allow a longer erection.

Hence, sildenafil of Malegra DXT acts on erectile dysfunction while duloxetine prevents premature ejaculation. Using them together helps sport an erection first and then last for a longer time. These actions ensure that the erection lasts long enough for intercourse without premature ejaculation.

The combination of these two medications may be beneficial for people who don’t respond to conventional therapy.

Medical Research Involving Malegra DXT

The sildenafil and duloxetine combo medication has not been the subject of extensive medical investigation. This is because they are built on formulas that are mass-produced by different businesses. The medications themselves, however, have quite a bit of research done on them. An effective treatment for erectile dysfunction is sildenafil [2]. Duloxetine has been successfully used to treat PE, according to some studies [3]. However, there is a lack of study on their combination.
