Silvitra

Erectile dysfunction can be defined as the problem of sexual dysfunction in which men cannot achieve or maintain the firm erection required for satisfying sexual intercourse. The condition’s effects extend beyond just sexual issues and result in issues related to mental health, family relationships, and self-esteem. Furthermore, erectile dysfunction can also be considered an early sign of nerve dysfunction or neuropathy, which is associated with conditions such as diabetes.

Silvitra is a combination medicine that consists of sildenafil and vardenafil. Both of these compositions are available as separate medicines as well, but the combination medicine is useful for the treatment of erectile dysfunction when either of them is ineffective. However, when two medicines are combined, there is also the complexity of weighing up the increased risk of side effects against the benefits. So, the medicine must be consumed only under the prescription of the doctor, with appropriate caution.

We will attempt to explain each Silvitra component in this article, as well as the advantages of taking both medications at once, the cost and dosage of the medication, any potential side effects, and when to take and when not to take the medication.

What is Silvitra?

Silvitra is the trade name for sildenafil citrate and vardenafil citrate used in the same preparation for double effects. Vardenafil is the generic name for Levitra, while sildenafil is the brand name used internationally for Viagra. Silvitra is an oral medication for treating impotence or erectile dysfunction in men.

Both of Silvitra’s active ingredients are phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors, which improve penile erection in erectile dysfunction patients by increasing blood flow to the penis.

Sildenafil helps to get an erection after sexual stimulation by improving the blood flow to the penis, whereas vardenafil potentiates the action of sildenafil. Therefore, taking this medication combination would enable you to achieve a stronger erection.

However, the combination drug also raises the possibility of adverse reactions from phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors.

Sildenafil was discovered in 1992 and was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998. The drug was marketed by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer under the brand name Viagra.

Vardenafil was granted FDA approval for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in 2003. It is manufactured by Bayer under the brand name Levitra.

Silvitra is a combination medicine and is manufactured by  Ajanta Pharma.

The Benefits of Combining Sildenafil and Vardenafil

Sildalist is an effective option when neither medication alone has been successful in treating severe erectile dysfunction.

The combination therapy has a significant impact and results in a stronger erection. The addition of vardenafil also prolongs the action of sildenafil.

Consequently, combination drugs are helpful to treat erectile dysfunction more successfully, which also helps to enhance a person’s relationships and mental health.

Some studies have also shown that the addition of vardenafil can help with premature ejaculation. [1]. So, the medicine can be used for the combined disorders of erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation.

What’s the Dose of Silvitra?

The available dose of Silvitra is 120 mg, which contains 100 mg of sildenafil and 20 mg of vardenafil. You must take the dose as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more than one pill per day.

The medicine is prescribed on an on-demand basis. That means it should be taken around 30 to 60 minutes before engaging in sexual intercourse. The medicine will show its peak effect in around 30 minutes to 2 hours of intake of the medicine.

How Long Does it Take for Silvitra to Kick in?

The effects of Silvitra will start to kick in about 30 to 60 minutes after you take it. In a few cases, it may take longer. Do not increase the dose on your own if it does not work. In such situations, the dose can be increased only at the recommendation of the doctor.

If you have intentionally or accidentally consumed more than the prescribed amount of Silvitra Tablet, then you might experience severe dizziness, fainting, and painful/prolonged erection. Whenever such a situation arises, get medical help right away.

How Long Does Silvitra Last?

The medicine lasts for around 4 hours to 6 hours. You should not take more than one pill every 24 hours.

How Much Does Silvitra Cost?

Silvitra costs between $1.5 and $2 per pill. The price varies with where you are getting it from and the number of pills you are buying.

The History of Silvitra

While a study was being conducted on sildenafil citrate for the treatment of high blood pressure, it was unintentionally found to have benefits for erectile dysfunction. Pfizer patented the drug in 1996. Two years later, in 1998, the Food and Drug Association (FDA) gave the medication the green light, and Pfizer began marketing it under the name Viagra, but Pfizer’s patent ran out in 2019. It is thus currently offered under numerous brand names and in a variety of combinations.

Vardenafil was first developed by Bayer. The company first revealed a promising new candidate for treating erectile dysfunction in 2001, and the FDA approved it for the condition in 2003. The new drug was then marketed and distributed globally by Bayer in partnership with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), another global pharmaceutical powerhouse.

Who Should Take Silvitra?

Silvitra is only prescribed for the treatment of severe erectile dysfunction. Premature ejaculation therapy and athletic enhancement are off-label uses that have not received FDA approval.

Sexual arousal is still required to get a penile erection. Other measures like regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, stress management, quitting smoking and alcohol, and foreplay before engaging in sexual activity should also be followed for sexual arousal and improving erection.

Your doctor will weigh the benefits of the drug against your individual level of risk. They will examine your current prescriptions to check for any possible drug interactions that might prevent you from using the medication safely.

Is Silvitra Safe?

Although the medicine is generally considered safe, the combined form of medicine is expected to increase the risk of side effects more than individual medicines. Some of the side effects expected to be associated with the medicine are listed.

Silvitra Drug Interactions

Different effects may result from the interaction of Silvitra with various other drugs. For instance, some interactions can affect the way the medicine works, and some interactions can increase the side effects of the medicine.

Before taking Silvitra, talk with your doctor and pharmacist. Inform your doctor about the prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, and other drugs you consume. Additionally, you need to inform them about any vitamins, herbs, or supplements you use. Sharing this information can help you avoid potential interactions.

Some of the potentially serious drug interactions are:

  • Using Silvitra with drugs like nitrates ( a medicine used for treating chest pain related to angina), alpha-blockers, and antihypertensives can severely lower blood pressure, leading to dizziness, fainting, and lightheadedness
  • Drugs like azole antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), histamine antagonists (Cimetidine), protease inhibitors for HIV (ritonavir), macrolide antibiotics ( erythromycin, azithromycin), opioid analgesics, can interact with Silvitra by decreasing their metabolism and increasing the risk of side effects and toxicity.
  • The medications like rifampicin, carbamazepine, and phenytoin can increase the metabolism of the Silvitra reducing the effectiveness of the drug.
  • Alcohol intake with Silvitra can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. It might also reduce the efficacy of the medicine.

Who Should Avoid Using Silvitra?

Here are a few examples of when you should avoid using Silvitra altogether:

  • You have severe heart disease or heart valve failure
  • You have a history of Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
  • You have been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa
  • You have a history of sildenafil hypersensitivity
  • You have a history of priapism
  • You have severe kidney disease
  • You have been diagnosed with blood disorders (hemophilia, leukemia, sickle-cell anemia)
  • You are taking nitrates.

You need to talk to your doctor in the following situations before taking Silvitra:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal products, or nutritional supplements.
  • You have a deformed penis such as Peyronie’s disease
  • You have a history of ulcers, high or low blood pressure, or heart disease

How Does Silvitra Work?

Both the active ingredients of Silvitra work by inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 5, which is responsible for the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). Thus, the accumulation of cGMP causes dilatation of blood vessels in the penis, increasing blood flow to the penis and thus causing an erection. [2]

Vardenafil is metabolized slower and removed slowly. So, the action of vardenafil lasts longer. Hence, using Silvitra, you can get an erection faster, stronger, and for a longer period.

Thus, these two medications work synergically in Silvitra to improve overall sexual function in men by enhancing their sexual experience.

Is Silvitra Helpful for Women?

The most common sexual problem in women is most likely the problem of sexual stimulation associated with sexual desire and arousal. Since Silvitra is not a sexual stimulant, it would not be beneficial for women. Hence, Silvitra is not recommended for use by women. [3]

However, individual components of Silvitra can be used separately for other purposes other than sexual problems.

Alternatives to Silvitra

Silvitra Alternatives

Silvitra is just one of several brand-name PDE5 inhibitors used for treating erectile dysfunction.

Some pharmaceutical alternatives for Silvitra include:

  • Sildenafil (Viagra)
  • Tadalafil (Cialis)
  • Vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn, and Vivanza)
  • Avanafil (Stendra)
  • Mirodenafil (Mvix)
  • Udenafil (Zydena)

Natural Alternatives To Silvitra

While there are natural PDE5 inhibitors and other forms of erectile dysfunction supplements, nothing in the natural world is as reliable as Silvitra or other prescription medications.

Many of these natural substances lack the clinical testing and proof necessary to recommend these products for erectile dysfunction ethically.

However, there are a few promising candidates worth mentioning:

Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium spp.)—this plant contains a compound called icariin, which is a relatively strong PDE5 inhibitor similar to Silvitra.

L-Arginine — this amino acid is one of the required precursors for nitric oxide production, which in turn promotes the activity of cGMP to promote erection.

Korean Red Ginseng (Panax quinquefolium)—KRG extracts have been shown to improve nitric oxide production, promote dilation of the arteries in the penis, and promote erection.

Where to Buy Silvitra?

Silvitra helps to solve a complex sexual problem in men. Having said that, we should not forget that combining two drugs might also increase the adversity of the drug reaction. So, it is essential to get this drug under the prescription of a doctor. After your doctor prescribes you the medicine, it can be bought from a medical store or online drug store.

Silvitra is prescribed as a part of the management plan until the cause of the sexual problem is completely resolved. So, it is not a cure for erectile dysfunction and the cause of the dysfunction needs to be identified.

You also should note that you must provide information about your past medical history and the medications or supplements that you are taking to your healthcare provider before the prescription is filled, to avoid unwanted interactions and potential risks.
