How Does Vivanza Work?

Vivanza (Vardenafil) is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5 that is cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific (PDE5). The relaxation of the smooth muscle of the corpus cavernosum and the arterioles that are connected to it is what causes the hemodynamic process that leads to penile erection.

Vivanza prevents the phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) enzyme, a particular cGMP phosphodiesterase, from degrading cGMP in the corpus cavernosum, a region around the penis.
